Athens

Athens is said to be one of the oldest cities of the world and the largest city in Greece. The first modern Olympic Games were held in Athens in 1896. The original Olympic logo still stands and can be seen in many of the tours that the city provides. Athena is the goddess of Athens and she represents war, civilization, wisdom, strength and skill. Amongst the things you do not want to miss in Athens are: the market – plaka, the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the Roman Agora, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the National Archeological Museum and the changing of the guards in Syntagma Square. Of course do not miss out on the traditional meals and the delightful olives and feta cheese served with almost every meal.

Stay tuned for details and pictures of my experience in Greece!

  1. Greece is a very pretty place. It's got centuries of old stories and ancient runis. Just viewing the picture that was put up makes me think of the Gladiator movie. I'm sure that all the old runis are fasinating to look at.

  2. Interesting, informative certainly. the layout is neat and the font size is not too small or big and the white, greyish color is easy on the eyes. I expect that the next blogs will have more photos--it might be a nice feature to have readers who travel to Greece to share stories and photos.

  4. Did you go on the study abroad trip last May? If I only had time to visit one major landmark, what would recommend?

  6. Juliet: I did go on the abroad trip last May, honestly i wish I was going this year too. I would have to say Mykonos as a city and Ephesus as a landmark. Mykonos offers an incredible view of the Aegean Sea, with a touch of rustic beautiful architecture. Ephesus lets the visitor be much more interactive, since one is able to sit around and touch most of the ruins.
